EMS for pain relief and pain management has been used for decades through physical therapy and has only become more popular as more and more well-known doctors, scientists, athletes, models, actors and actresses have promoted its benefits. So many of our EMS clients are suffering and have just accepted their ongoing knee pain, back issues, neck stiffness and shoulder pain. They have found ways to manage it either through pain medication or steering clear of certain activities which may aggravate or cause inflammation. Once upon a time that pain was not there, it is over time and the way we sit, stand, read or work on devices that have affected our posture and put stress on joints and tendons.
Electrical muscle stimulation has been used for decades as a form of physical therapy for knee and back pain and is now available under the guidance of certified EMS trainers at Fit X EMS. In 2017-2018 it was reported about 4 million Australians had back problems. That’s 1 in 6 or 16% of people in Australia suffering from back pain many of who are scared to do exercise in case they cause further pain or injury. However, more often than not exercises like EMS under proper guidance can be the only thing that will reduce it and allow them to get back to feeling themselves.
EMS for back pain.
‘Back problems’ is the general term for a wide range of conditions that can affect the neck (cervical spine), upper back (thoracic spine) and lower back (lumbar spine) as well as the sacrum and tailbone (coccyx). Such back problems can include disc disorders (herniated discs or disc degeneration), sciatica and curvature of the spine as well as generalised back pain where the pain area and cause are not classified. Back problems are now not only affecting adults but younger generations as well and can be related to poor posture, muscle or ligament injury, herniated discs as well as skeletal irregularities like scoliosis. Staying mobile through exercise and EMS are some of the best ways to treat back pain as well as avoid any onset of back pain. We have seen great improvements in the back pain of clients who train using EMS for a variety of reasons;
- EMS workouts are low impact full body workouts with no strain on joints, weak areas or tendons.
- Allowing proper time between each session means the body has ample time to recover.
- Electro muscle stimulation strengthens the core and those muscles around the spine which naturally improves posture and flexibility.
- EMS sessions are 1 on 1 with a qualified personal trainer. Each session is tailored to the client, working on areas of strength, weakness and any pain points.
EMS for knee pain or weakness.
Knee pain can be caused by injuries, mechanical problems, types of arthritis and other problems. Some of these other problems are from factors such as excess weight which increases the stress on your knee joint, lack of flexibility, certain sports such as skiing, high-intensity training, weight training or jobs that require prolonged standing and walking or lifting heavy objects. A previous injury can also make you more prone to another injury. EMS uses a low-impact training method guided by one of our qualified EMS trainers who can create a customised workout depending on any limitations.
We work with you and your body. We will always do a quick check-in before the training session to highlight any new injuries, pain points or tight areas of the body and will customise the workout to best suit you and ensure you get the most out of each session.
You can’t go through life letting pain dictate the way you behave.
